Chart/Tool™ DCTL — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Chart/Tool™ DCTL?
It's a free DaVinci Resolve DCTL that generates 9 industry-standard reference charts — ColorChecker Classic, ColorChecker SG, SMPTE Bars 75%/100%, Skin Tones, Hull Patches, Data Levels, Spectrum Sweep, and MultiChart — directly on your timeline, rendered live in your working gamut and transfer function.
Is the Chart/Tool DCTL free?
Yes — it's a free download. Enter your name and email on this page and we'll send the download link straight to your inbox.
Does it require DaVinci Resolve Studio?
Yes. DCTL plug-ins load only in DaVinci Resolve Studio; the free edition of Resolve can't run DCTLs.
Which charts does it include?
ColorChecker Classic (24-patch) and ColorChecker SG (140-patch), SMPTE Bars at 75% and 100% amplitude, a 16-patch multi-ethnicity Skin Tones chart, Hull Patches for gamut-boundary inspection, a Data Levels legal/full-range diagnostic, a continuous Spectrum Sweep, and a combined MultiChart (exposure wedge, color band, line-pair, gradient).
Which color spaces does it support?
17 gamuts (including ACES AP1, ARRI Wide Gamut, DaVinci Wide Gamut, Rec.709, Rec.2020, RED Wide Gamut RGB, Sony S-Gamut3/3.Cine) and 24 transfer functions, so every chart renders correctly against your node tree's actual color space.
How do I install it?
The easiest way is the free PixelTools Installer — one click, no folder hunting. To install manually, drop the .dctl file into your DaVinci Resolve LUT folder, then apply it on a node via the DCTL OFX.
How is it different from Prime/Grade™?
Prime/Grade™ bundles a curated set of chart tools together with a complete primary grading toolkit in one node — it isn't simply Chart/Tool with more charts. Chart/Tool™ is the standalone, free, full 9-chart reference library.
