PowerGrades are pre-built looks designed exclusively for DaVinci Resolve — think of them like “presets” in other apps. You can apply them in seconds, and every adjustment we’ve built into the grade is there for you to see and tweak. That means you’re saving hours while still keeping full creative control.

Unlike LUTs or third-party plug-ins, PowerGrades are flexible. You can pop one on, explore the node tree, and customize it to fit your project without being locked into a single baked-in look.

With a PowerGrade, nothing is hidden — every tool, every adjustment, every control is yours to explore and adjust. You can even dial in the intensity of each effect to suit your project or client.

By comparison, LUTs and most “creative look” plug-ins are fixed. They’re locked down, which means you’re left with little control or trust. Could you reverse engineer them? Sure — but that’s time better spent grading.

PixelTools PowerGrades are built for flexibility, organization, and reusability. Each one is carefully labeled and structured so you can jump in, understand it fast, and make it your own.

DCTL (DaVinci Color Transform Language) is Resolve’s programming language that lets us work directly with pixel data. It also allows us to create custom UI controls — sliders, drop-downs, checkboxes — so you can adjust things in a natural, Resolve-native way.

DCTLs unlock math and operations that Resolve doesn’t normally support, like spherical color model in Hue/Shift.

Note: they do require the Studio version of Resolve — they won’t run in the free version.

Our tools are built exclusively for Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve Studio (version 19.1.4 and beyond) on macOS, Windows, and Linux. If a product has a version-specific requirement, we’ll note it clearly on the product page and in the documentation. In general, we aim to keep things backwards compatible with at least one previous version.

Yes — updates and improvements are always included at no extra cost. When we refine a tool or add new functionality, you’ll automatically get the latest version. Many of our products have continued receiving updates for 4+ years after their original release.
